Opened in 1999 with a Burley Katon Halliday original design, the Kirketon, alongside Salt Restaurant immediately claimed the title of Australia’s original boutique hotel. Incorporating the stark and cool minimalist style of the day to its architecture and interiors, the highly priced hotel and aloof ambience offered the equivalent design narrative to guest experience. Acquired by Eight Hotels in 2003, the Kirketon rapidly and consistently achieved full occupancy while maintaining its reputation as an iconic boutique hotel through a thoughtful repositioning focused on incomparable value and guest hospitality.
DESIGN
In 2008 the Kirketon Hotel went through another transformation. Maintaining Eight Hotels core values whilst showcasing a stunning, sensuous design experience replacing the hotel’s minimalist history with contemporary elegance reminiscent of great Parisian boutique hotels and the new wave of New York properties. Soft furnishing, luxury finish, practicality and comfort were Eight Hotels brief to designer Connie Alessi (EDGE DESIGN), while creating individual elements of Sydney cool.
